Fire Investigations
Under Utah State Law, the local Fire Chief shall determine the cause and origin of every fire. Often, the highly technical level of expertise needed to investigate fires is not found at a local level. The fire investigation section from the Fire Marshal’s Office is available to assist local fire departments and law enforcement agencies throughout the state in determining the cause and origins of fires. In addition to conducting over 200 fire investigations each year, they also conduct training and testify as expert witnesses in court.
