The mission of the Department of Public Safety/State Bureau of Investigation Alcohol Enforcement Section is to enforce the state laws and regulations governing the sale and use of alcoholic beverages in a manner that provides a safe and secure environment for all people in Utah.
The Alcohol Enforcement Section is committed to enhancing the quality of life and safety of the people of Utah by eliminating the incentives and opportunity to commit liquor offenses through a comprehensive law enforcement effort of deterrence, apprehension and prosecution.
Goals and Objectives
- Respond to the requests of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, local law enforcement and the public in identifying, gathering evidence and prosecuting individuals or organizations violating provisions of the Utah Alcoholic Beverage Control Act.
- Inform and educate state liquor licensees, local law enforcement and the public in the provisions and enforcement of state liquor laws through seminars, personal contacts, the media and law enforcement assistance.
- To support youth alcohol suppression operations throughout the state.
- Reduce the number of alcohol-connected emergencies by conducting TRACE investigations to discover the source of the alcohol that may have contributed to the incident.
