James Teufel, MPH, PhD, is the Data Analyst of the Utah Supreme Court, Office of Legal Services Innovation. He is a recognized scholar focused on the intersection of civil justice and health.  Dr. Teufel has advised the American Bar Association’s Center for Human Rights and a Healthcare Law Subcommittee Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences’ Project on Access to Justice.  He has served as an evaluation consultant to healthcare, social service, and legal services organizations.  Dr. Teufel was the President of the Board of the Neighborhood Health Centers of the Lehigh Valley, a federally-qualified health center.  He has contributed to over 100 national professional presentations and 40 professional publications.  Dr. Teufel received the 2015 National Medical-Legal Partnership Advocate of the Year Award.  Dr. Teufel contributed to the business case for medical-legal partnerships and the social return on investment of legal services.
